Vulcano Lodge is about as far away as you can get and still enjoy the comforts of gracious lodging, the pleasure of carefully prepared and presented gourmet meals, and the delight of lush gardens and vibrant birdlife set against Lake Atitlan and its towering volcanoes. Privacy, tranquility, the natural beauty of Atitlan, and the delights of a well-managed hotel and a spectacular restaurant -- that's Vulcano Lodge.

Your hosts Monica and Terje Maeland came from similar country -- the fjords of Norway -- and were captivated by Guatemala and the dream of building a fine hotel in this exotic, beautiful, tranquil corner of the world.

The food (three meals each day, if you wish) is superb and hygienically prepared using local, normally organic products. Count on an exquisite five-course dinner inspired by available, local meats, fish, fruits and vegetables and crafted with the years of experience that the Chef brings to your table. It is a feast for the eyes as well as the appetite.

" This hotel is a little piece of paradise with beautiful gardens filled with flowering tropical plants, banana trees and Hummingbirds." tripadvisor guest review

"Maybe the best place I've ever stayed - Wow, the Vulcano Lodge is an amazing place. It’s like staying at a friend’s house — a friend who makes you a three-course dinner, accommodates any request you could possibly have, and puts you up in a nice room. We had a great stay here — met some fun people (the hosts and other guests), ate like kings, and truly relaxed. We hugged the hosts when we left. Where else on earth would you want to do that?" tripadvisor guest review
